Martial Artist of the year for 2021, Joshua Passmoor
Through a lifetime of hard work, 13-year old Joshua Passmoor has become both an example and a teacher of what can be accomplished when desire is combined with determination. Joshua who has become a household name in Taekwondo, recently received the Martial Artist of the year for 2021 at his club TTA in Wonderboom, Pretoria. Joshua is the only person with Down syndrome at the club.
Joshua attends a mainstream school in Pretoria and is in grade 5. He started Taekwondo when he was 10 years old. He became South Africa National Champion for 11 – 12 year age group special ability category.
He recently competed in an online competition and was entered in the typical category and won 4 gold medals.
Joshua is in the South Africa’s top 5 again this year and will be competing shortly in the National championships.
Joshua is in leadership training in the club which means he helps to train the younger students.
Taekwondo has helped him learn discipline, endurance and self confidence. Joshua has changed perceptions all along the way and works very hard at everything he does.
